I like Carroll, today showed why we need him but we keep, saying it, he must stay fit.

On his day he is a beast and showed again that he can be an asset to the club.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Another performance by Carroll against Chelsea which makes you think he might be worth keeping. It also made him more marketable, provided he survives the rest of the Season. If only we weren't paying him so much it would be an easier decision.

But AC is our most expensive star player.... Sorry just went through a time lapse moment!

Time to mug Newcastle off for at least £10m if they stay in the Premiership

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
If we do manage to get a top striker in I can see him going back to the Barcodes(especially if they go down)with us taking a big hit(but not as big as the one Liverpool took).

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
so we build a squad around him then he doesn't turn up.

Fuck off sick note.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Anyone saying Emenike is better than Carroll is completely out of their fucking mind! I can only assume it's due to a hangover from the Big Sam era.

Where Carroll fits in is open to debate, but whether he's any good is not. He's an excellent player who, when fit, scores goals, makes goals and scares defenders.

Emenike has shown nothing to suggest he will be anything more than a 4th choice striker. That's not me being negative, and yes, I'm sure he's not 100% fit and still adjusting. But I've watched him play and haven't seen a great deal to be all that positive about. He's not awful, but who do you think the Man U defenders would rather see on the team sheet for the replay?

Schoffie - agreed about him being a very expensive squad player.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
I'd keep him now, albeit I wanted to sell him on earlier this season.

Since he's come back he looks very mobile + puts a huge amount of effort in. In addition he can score goals given the service.

I still question his long term fitness, he does seem injury prone, but he's a good squad player at the very least.

I'd rather have Carroll in the team than Benteke, I hope that particular rumour is wrong.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
i would keep him without a doubt , offers something so different to any other strikers in the division , anyone who witnessed the panic in the Norwich and Everton back fours this season when he appeared against them will back me up on this .

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
But he's not a £90k a week striker is he?! Be realistiic everyone, we are never ever going to get 20plus goals from him on that dosh.. Get rid of the ponce in the summer!! That's my opinion, I stand by it, even if he scores against the chavs sat.. He get injured again before the seasons out!

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
I apologise if anyone has got me wrong. Andy Carroll, on his good days, can be superb. Corner havoc, "assists", headers... when it happens.

Problem is: those good days are now very rare. And WHUFC are apparently paying him more than any other equivalent player at the club. Wages aren't my problem, but...

I honestly hope he proves his "worth." He (possibly) has 10 games. And I sincerely hope he lives up to his past reputation.

A hat-trick v Chelsea would be nice.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
He has bucked up his ideas as he is no longer our star player and now realises he can be replaced . 2 of his goals secured us wins this season as well . They could be end being part of the reason we might be challenging for the top 3 come May .

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
When he came on against Bournemouth he looked fantastic; faster, fitter and was bossing the game.

Unfortunately it was only for a few minutes when he got crocked again, but that it was he is capable of.

He is a fantastically talented player who is also incredibly injury-prone.

Bilic is managing his re-entry very carefully, I wouldn't worry too much about his limited impact lately, he is being eased back in and they are probably assessing how his fitness and potential to be injured is.

On his day he is probably the best English CF.

Have faith in him and Bilic - if he can not do it he will be let go.

Completely agree...

He did set up EE with a good goal chance with a well judged lob to EE...which went narrowly wide from EE strike...

Bullet header...2 yards over the top...

poor left foot strike attempt...went wide...

not much else to show as a striker/goal

scorer...

mostly in MF later on...slow...ponderous...etc etc...

I know that. Hence my questions of what WHUFC fans REALLY (re)think about Carroll's worth.
